A Cold and Cloudy Day

These woods so lovely dark and deep,
Pray the lord my soul to keep,
Forgotten promises did not.
Ice castles of regret bleed
Rimed ichor from Pluto's cold pot.

The horse ridden with no harness,
Mistakes were made in earnest,
Flying crystalline children scream
Love has miles and miles to go
Before it finds the frozen stream.

I think alas its true perchance
To dream of warmth and then glance
At sun, but they darken my view.
These shades of grey conceal heaven
In frosty undertones they skew,
I have miles to go and never sleep.

Poignant poem Tim - the angst that arises from having something in your sight but having it blocked must be tremendous. The sun represents all that is warm, physically and emotionally, and when it becomes unreachable it is enough to darken our world. Very well penned!

This is a very special write, it truly spoke to me with all it's emotion filled up within it! I surely loved reading this amazing poem here this evening! What a fantastic piece, Great Work!! PS I did notice also that this write was based off of Frost's "Stopping by a Woods on a snowy Evening" As I have just memorized it for the class I'm in...I'm going for a Creative Writing degree with a specialization in Poetry, so far it is awesome!!

Thanks Russell! So you are pursuing a Creative Writing degree? Congratulations! We are on parallel paths. I am finishing up a degree in English and plan to pursue a Masters in writing fiction! It's funny, because I chose to memorize that poem as well just recently because I love it so much. Thanks for stopping by friend.

Indeed, some sunshine would be nice. I know all about the need to rest, but things that keep me awake won't let me sleep anymore without those promises kept. Thanks for your kind comment Anne.
