A Circle of Life

A nest full of helpless chicks
await
A mother osprey in search of
food
Her eyes trained on a school of
bait
To take back to her hungry
brood

In an instinctive quest for
survival
She is meticulously dissecting
the ocean
At the nest they await her
arrival
In a blind raucous helpless
commotion

A large school of plump bunker
surface
To avoid bigger fish swimming
deep
Unaware of the danger above
them
Mother osprey has promises to
keep.

Linda, Thank you. Apologies for not letting you know that I love your work; it is immediate, raw and yet beautifully sensitive, well done. I do most of my work on my Iphone and therefore do not always catch the most recent submissions.
