A Christmas Present
Reuben was not looking to find a king.
The only thing that he followed was his appetite.
He assumed that things would go right that night.
He did not come to worship and no gifts did he bring.
He was not threating and was harmless as a dove.
All through that year he continued knocking at our door.
He was provided good food, mercy, and lots of love.
God brought to us a homeless man, tired, hungry, and poor.
41 years ago on Christmas Day, God gave such a gift to my family.
Reuben was a live Christmas gift who sat at our table for dinner.
Our new found friend has become to our family a lasting memory.
That Christmas, we were receivers; God and Reuben were the real givers.
