A Chipped Heart

A Chipped Heart...

Dreaming, my heart brittle as glass,
my solitary facade a pitiful farce,

shards tearing out of my skin,
seeking release, from cages within,

I am lost, in the dream,
bellowing out a silent scream,

torn from reality, drowning in the now,
yet I refuse,
I refuse to succumb,

I refuse to bow.

My chipped heart, may be wounded,
wreathed in pain,

still,

I believe, love, truth, belonging,

will take my hand,

again...

Thanks, Madelin, yes, all our hearts get chipped at times, and sometimes we are guilty of causing the hearts of the very best of people to be chipped too, so I suppose its also about taking responsibility and acknowledging the hurt that we can cause others, and not just feeling our own pain. Am I making any sense at all? I doubt it, but thank you again for your kind words, Madelin, they are deeply appreciated.

Love your use of expression in this write. An emotional piece. I like the determination that comes through despite the pain. Good ending, great title! Em

Thank you, yet again, Em! Your kind words are much appreciated. I suppose we all to never lose hope. Ps: I love what Tim Robbins's character 'Andy' in 'The Shawshank Redemption' says to a very tired and jaded Morgan Freeman's character 'Red' ... "Remember Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies"
