A child and his poet

A child wonders for freedom, the sky speaks,
Yearning to become a bird and fly through peaks,
To taste the cold breeze above the clouds,
To dance and sing, “I’m free” aloud.
A child wonders at the calmness the forest provides,
Yearning to become a horse, galloping through the wild,
To leave behind the life of a cultivator,
And roam untamed, where nature is the creator.

This is a delightful rhyming piece that perfectly captures the untethered imagination of a child. The rhyming couplets give the verses a gentle, musical cadence that beautifully suits the theme of innocent yearning. I especially enjoyed the vivid transition from soaring through the clouds as a bird to galloping through the untamed forest as a horse, as it paints a wonderful picture of freedom and deep connection with nature.
