A Change of Season

the sun noticed a change
as the winds blow colder
fewer warm days to tempt us
while the season grows older

overdue leaves begin to stain
turning landscapes satin bright
dusting the ground after falling
bright red and golden flames

twirling shadows in moonlight
as the winter cascades
bare trees waving their goodbyes
as autumn's beauty fades

I enjoyed the read, James, with a late warm spell our leaves are just now turning but I suppose in in a couple weeks the branches will be bare. John
