A Change of Face

A new life has begun
My old has gone
Family not well and friends vanished
A new place and new faces
All too much to handle
Leaving hurts, feels as if your heart is torn
Trust has withered
Love has faded
Time to start a new
Truly not wanting too
Jobs and responsibilities
Dropped upon me like a ton of bricks
Now the only thing I hold close
Are old memories and dreams
I flip open my notebook and strum on my guitar
As I sit out upon the windowsill
And wonder why my soul has gone so far
