A Caterpillar's Dream
If I was an animal what would I be
A small little caterpillar that nobody would see
I crawl amongst the earth eat what I can and hide in the dirt
For when I'm hidden nobody sees the loneliness or cold nights of being hurt
In the day I eat what I can to survive and eventually build a cocoon
Be surrounded by four walls caving in and will never see the light of day or see past noon
But surrounded by the walls I picture a creature all would love to see
A creature that still might be small but sprouts it's wings to take flight and free
A caterpillar whose potential yet to be seen until it goes through it's phase
To seek out it's potential within the cocoon and be beautiful when it's out of the case
While within potential is being painted and my wings begin to emerge
I feel a change happening within me and a feel a great surge
Of life as I break free from the cocoon into a beautiful and magnificent butterfly
Whose wings glow upon the rays of the blue sky
People stare in awe as I fly so free and for all to admire
Children chase me for I am a glow of light and hope to inspire
That they too can sprout their wings and fly while at a young age
