A Bunch of Words

What’s a poem? A bunch of words That may or not be read And likely will be filed away To disappear instead. The lucky ones may get a glance Before the page is turned, But as a rhymer, I will share The truth that I have learned: The poet writes those words because The need to do so’s there, No matter if there’s not Another soul who seems to care.

I had a comment yesterday on one of my poems. They thought I should shorten it. This guy (a new poet who has written six poems) told me "most people do not read long poems." I thanked him for his concern, and told him that I do not write for anyone but myself.

i have finally found you, o fellow anguished, alienated one, stung to the core of your essential being by the anomie of post-Zionist nuclear redemptive existence (whatever all that means!). Hey, ilene, wanna go grab a Coke?!

At the beginning there was the word and still it is here . There is always some one seeking the words, no matter where or who has it . Keep flowing for I keep following the word
