A Brown Paper Parcel

A brown paper parcel
Appeared at my door
Just lying outside
There on the floor

As I picked it up
It rattled a bit
I gave it a shake
What was in it?

I had to wonder
Who was it from
It might not be safe
It might be a bomb

I gingerly tore
The paper away
It did make me curious
I really must say

I finally discovered
The object inside
It was now exposed
It could no longer hide

So what was this thing?
That was sent to me
Maybe one day
I'll let you see
