A Broken Heart Keeps Beating

Forsaken and forgotten
I ponder the meaning of love
Is it something everlasting?
That's ordained from up above?

Or is there a hidden meaning
Something impossible to obtain
Is it only meant to cause us sorrow?
Endless heartache and pain?

A broken heart keeps beating
Though it is no longer alive
Supplying blood, it's only purpose
So that our organs will survive

Love is just a four letter word
But so is hate and fear
Isn't it strange that all three of these
Will cause our eyes to tear?

The world keeps right on moving
While you are standing still
Not aware of your surroundings
You've forgotten how to feel

It's a wolf, in sheeps clothing
An Illusion no more no less
The thought that love, is everlasting?
Is only wishful thinking, at best

Hmmm. I'll have to think about this philosophy. In this poem, I really appreciated your observation that the three named emotions are all four letter words which cause tears.
