A Broad Reach
The horizon sketches a moving line,
A boundary we oft take for the end;
But to the knowing spirit, limits bend,
Inner self and outer bounds intertwine.
To forge a broad, sure solemn sacred reach,
We need unstrap from the edge of the shore
What we thought, what we wagged we knew before,
And let the wafting waves and waters teach.
The more we sail, the more we uncover
The horizon receding before us
And how little we know that we can trust,
With knowledge ocean, an endless wonder.
The ego shrinks, the branded harbour fades,
As we sail out on boundless ocean`s deeps;
A graceful insight lies that never sleeps,
Guiding us through the deep sea shifting shades.
A bashful breath in shining stellar spark,
We are a tiny boat in the vast sea,
A drop of rain in the infinity,
A dot of light in the unbounded dark.
Let our end goal of life be the broad reach,
Knowing well that we can grasp but a drop
Of the stream of dew at the mountain top
Or a grain of sand on an endless beach.
Let`s stretch bounds of the mind, let anchors go,
Let`s sail in the vast sea, the glowing blue;
The light resides deep within us, that`s true
And we are one within the streaming flow.
On a broad reach, our vessel finds its guide,
Sails in tune with the invisible wind,
Letting unseen currents direct our swing,
Past the shallow blue water of low tide.
To travel a broad reach across oceans
Is to sail wide, without destination,
Trusting our journey and our own vision
Where our boat mirrors inner emotions.
