A Broad Reach
A vessel leaning to the breeze,
Where sunbeams dance on rolling seas,
With canvas full and spirits high,
Beneath an endless sapphire sky.
The whispered song of rushing foam,
As white-tipped waves begin to roam,
And halyards hum a steady tune,
Beneath the watchful afternoon.
No hurried tack, no breathless fight,
Just perfect balance, smooth and bright,
A broad reach toward the fading sun,
Where sea and open sky are one.
