Notes About The Poem

Author’s Notes:  This is special tribute to a departed and most loved family member. (I wrote it as Rhymed Couplet which I thought was the best vehicle for capturing my thoughts and feelings about this most wonderful person.) Gary Bateman, April 27, 2015.

A Brave Soul Goes Home

A Brave Soul Goes Home

No mortal power ever on this common earthly plane
Can call you back as Heaven makes its final gain.

You mind was one steeped in such numeric certitude,
Possessing a spirit with a most certain pulchritude.

Your life strode a period of only six decades plus two,
But in God’s divine plan he knew so well the real you.

You developed in time a zest for friendship and love,
Which God felt with such passion in Heaven above.

Your life had its great share of such suffering and pain,
But that never dampened your spirit on this mortal plane.

God was most aware always of your charitable nature,
As you helped those in need—victims of human nature.

Your departure from us was sadly short and unexpected,
But God’s plan and wishes for you were always expected.

And so Brave Soul we mourn your loss from our mortal home,
But we take solace in knowing God’s called you to His home.

Hello Dorian!! Thanks for your condolences and I will pass them on to Ingrid. Yes, this has been a tough time for Ingrid and me and other family members. Her brother was a great person. He was a retired mathematics teacher. Thanks again for your prayers. I thought the couplet I wrote was fitting tribute to my brother-in-law. Best Always, Gary

Thanks Liam Mate!! Prayers help and sadness ultimately makes us stronger when we all realize that one day we all will similarly depart this mortal coil here on Earth. And then a new exciting adventure begins. No Fear!! Best, Gary

In this case too, it was my BIL (my wife's younger brother) who was a year younger than me. He had a very serious situation and suffered immensely. He went fast and his suffering is over now. Thank Good!! Best Always, Gary
