A Box of Memories

I came upon a box today
That I had not seen in ages
- So I decided to take a peek

A Billy Idol cassette tape
A carousel charm keepsake
- I remember wearing it for weeks

A rhinestone button fallen off
My favorite outside coat
- I used to wear it everywhere

A picture of my dog who had
One eye blue and one green
- Taken from me too early, it wasn't fair

A piece of my adult front tooth
Knocked loose from a fall on the pavement
- Gosh, how much that hurt!

A "best" half of a best friends charm
Shine almost completely faded
- The word "best" caked with dirt

My favorite star eraser
Colors ranged from red to blue
-Never wanted to make it erase

The hot wheels care he gave me
When I was only 6
- When little brother still showed some grace

A elementary check yes or no
With no checked in bright red
- My first lesson in rejection

A wooden cross pendant
I always used to have around
- When I thought it was enough protection

Last but not least
A letter I wrote to me
-Full of hope and wishes and dreams

My eyes have teared up
But i'm still smiling
-At this box of memories
