A Box of Life
It showed up at my doorstep
I signed for it on the dotted line
I brought the box to my kitchen table
Wondering what could be inside.
I read the card attached on top
It said inside a life just for you
But first close your eyes and make a wish
And watch all your dreams come true
I did as i was instructed
Then quickly ripped the box open wide
And what happened next took my breath away
I couldnt believe the contents inside
Reach in and grab a dream the voice said
This all belongs to you
Everything you ever lost in life
Is now restored to you.
Tomorrow when you wake up
A good woman will wake next to you
She will love and cherish you forever
Shes the special one destined for you.
Reach in a little further down
And much success for you is set aside
There will be children and grandchildren who love you
They will speak your name with pride
I was enjoying my newly awarded life
My smile you couldnt wipe away
I danced a waltz in my living room
Just feeling so blessed today.
Then the voice said theres one condition
All you have recieved you must give away
What you have been blessed with you must share
For your life to change today.
So i sat and pondered this predicament
To give away all i have recieved
Should I take a leap of blind faith today
Or am i just being decieved
I felt at this point there was nothing to lose,
And started calling people i knew with needs
I surrendered all i had been given
And people were truly happy for all they had recieved
Day had passed and the box was silent
Not one blessing came my way
But then people started being my friends
And came to visit me every day
A year had passed and the box finally spoke
And said see how wonderful your life has changed
You have people who value you for who you are
Not for things you have attained
My life now seems full of contentment
I see it through a different set of eyes
The real blessings come from how we treat others
It has made my heart more alive.
