A Bison's Dreams

Big skies, waving grass, and teeming streams -
these are things a bison dreams,
or did before they took his hide and laid him low,
and called him names like "buffalo".

Yes, it's amazing to me how people can decimate populations such as bison and passenger pigeons so quickly.

Such beauty that existed in the wild before men “tamed” it.

Yes, somethings I think how great it would have been to live in those times...but then there was no antibiotics and a bunch of other no this and no that. Too bad they don't have time tourism, made possible with time machines.

I cried when little thinking they were all gone, thought for sure that's what we were taught in school. It's not true. I see you've been stretching your clever muscle, making it stronger and quite limber-prime. I've enjoyed somewhat catching up with your poems tonight. All the best all the time!

You know, I don't know if I'm remembering this right, but I think this island called Catalina, off the Southern California coast might be one place you can find bison/buffalo, or maybe that was goats...or both. I think they were put there for a movie seen, and then became a wild population...and I understand they have some, probably in the prairies of the great plains, hmm, I wonder if they're wild or on some kind of farm. I might need to googling. Thanks for your reading and comments - nice to hear from you!
