A bicycle ride with my Dad
A ride I rode with pride,
A ride that never fades.
A ride that still guides
Through all life’s different shades.
On a beautiful spring morning,
With a handful of popsicles,
I sat on my dad’s bicycle
Like a princess full of grace.
In a dress with white lace,
I went on a ride with my dad.
A ride I rode
with pride.
The cool breeze kissed my face;
No race, nothing to chase.
My dad’s arm I just embraced.
I closed my eyes,
Slept and shifted to a place
Where no one could trace.
A ride I rode
with pride.
I rued about my exams,
Scared of my madam.
I complained of life's scams;
I cried all the "damns."
Still, he remained calm,
Making me feel the warmth.
It was a ride
I rode the other day,
with pride.
When to press the brake,
When to take a break.
When to ride fast,
When to slow the pace.
When to join the race,
And when not to chase.
I learned all of life’s lessons
Through those buoyant bicycle rides.
A street with ups and downs,
A street about to drown,
I crossed every worst street of town,
With no crick and no pain;
Never fallen, my crown,
He never let it fall down.
It was a ride I rode,
Where the seeds of hope
were sown by Dad.
Through this life of ups and downs,
Through the life of this crowned clown,
He rode with me along;
Never made me feel alone.
Now the bicycle is still here,
But he is no longer near.
But the stories he told,
And the advice he shared, still resound.
Deep in my heart, his words echo
More than enough to soothe my ache.
Those bicycle rides were my life’s best phases,
And through his lessons, my dad still drives.
