A Better Place

You were a slow and subtle induction into my life You asked me if I would have lunch with you Even though I was bravely scared, I said yes We had no way of knowing the strife You were special from the start Your eyes sparkled like the reflection of the moon on water And with that mischievous grin of yours Without knowing, you stole my heart I gave into your kisses, your touch You took me places I have never been Places I could never go again Because of you, I have learned so much Some things were out of our hands Now looking back upon that time Searching my heart, my soul I realize after all you’re just a man But time has brought us to where we are today Because of you I feel free and complete I just want you to know my friend I wouldn’t want it any other way So thank you for being you For allowing me to be a part of your life And you a part of mine I have grown so much because of you Even through the heartache, the pain, and tears I would gladly do it all again For it has led me to a better place A place where I hope to be friends for years.
