A Battle In Vain

A demon, a pond, a song
one runs and leaves the flesh exposed
one has lost and left to greive
the last plays out it's soft melody
to all who hear their hope still rings

A roman, a doctor, a monk
one is searching for a love that is lost
one invades a demon's run
the last had started to attack
for they have nothing to lose left intact

A solider, a river, a war
one gives hope to the one who mourns
one tries to tell how her story was born
the last was won but fought in vain
for the child was lost all of the same.
