A Ballade For the Ballance of Power
The politics, that politicians preach,
Are designed to do nothing more than sway
All of the voters to believe some speech.
Upon this gullibility, they prey.
Just like sprinklers, they are eager to spray
Quick witted quotes that show all of their quirks.
But, this is the phrase that they have to weigh,
"Prove to me that DEMOCRACY still works!"
They just prove to be the collective leech,
That tell voters "there is no other way!"
Though the power to change is in their reach,
They let the "chips" fall where ever they may,
Content to leave them where ever they lay;
Content to just keep on collecting perks.
But, voters proclaim, while the price they pay,
"Prove to me that DEMOCRACY still works!"
Their status is impossible to breech,
With no chance for hope, not even a ray.
It appears as if the status of each
Is permanently sculpted out of clay.
Their prized positions, where they choose to stay,
Are why they continue to look like jerks.
But, the people often beg, when they pray,
"Prove to me that DEMOCRACY still works!"
Commander lead us to a better day!
In the back of your mind, the truth still lurks,
Because you can still hear the people say,
"Prove to me that DEMOCRACY still works!"
