In the past I had written two other sonnets about this "love" affair, which definitely I put an end to this past summer! (please read all the way to the end of my posted sonnet so you will know what I am writing about!) This one with a link to it is one that I wrote many years ago (the first in my trilogy of sonnets to this so-called summer lover) It was fun while it lasted!!:

I promised you I’d never let you go
and when each summer came, you’d find me here,
but when I said that, it was years ago!
I'm wiser now, and things have changed; I fear
I cannot let you linger on my skin
with that amazing warmth you gave to me.
To be with you too often was my sin!
The face inside my mirror that I see
is not the same I saw there in the past.
I worshipped you! How many hours I’d lie
beneath you, wishing that our trysts could last
forever, but I now must say goodbye
because I see the damage you have done.
Your long caress I’ll miss, though, golden Sun!

Alas, 'tis true; my days in the sun I now rue!
