In the past I had written two other sonnets about this "love" affair, which definitely I put an end to this past summer! (please read all the way to the end of my posted sonnet so you will know what I am writing about!) This one with a link to it is one that I wrote many years ago (the first in my trilogy of sonnets to this so-called summer lover)  It was fun while it lasted!!:

I promised you I’d never let you go and when each summer came, you’d find me here, but when I said that, it was years ago! I'm wiser now, and things have changed; I fear I cannot let you linger on my skin with that amazing warmth you gave to me. To be with you too often was my sin! The face inside my mirror that I see is not the same I saw there in the past. I worshipped you! How many hours I’d lie beneath you, wishing that our trysts could last forever, but I now must say goodbye because I see the damage you have done. Your long caress I’ll miss, though, golden Sun! N/A Posted Nov, 6, 2017 Now used for Rob Carmack's 'Screwed XVIII' Contest Alas, 'tis true; my days in the sun I now rue!

This is brilliantly created Andrea! I didn't guess you were speaking to the sun until I read your last line. I loved it! Congrats on having it win second place! I tried one more time and got an HM which is pretty amazing. : )

A great flow to the poem, Andrea and such an unexpected twist at the end. Very clever and I'm glad you came to see the error of your ways! Congratulations on your win. All the best Wendy

The sun had many lovers in the past and unfortunately still has many who won't listen to the warnings from those with past experience with damaged skin. This poem is written in your own inimitable talented style and it is perfect Andrea! : )

This is great, I love the theme and, regrettably, relate to it! My early twenties were spent in Florida when sunscreen wasn't so adamantly preached. I have two face 'sun spots' and, believe me, nothing erases them (funny stories about trying.) I'm studying this to learn and loving it for how it says what it says! Love ... CayCay

Ah! I meant that I read two sonnets, one this and the other one whose link you have given above, but since you mentioned trilogy, I would love to read the third sonnet too, Andrea:)

The ancient Egyptians - as I am sure you know worshiped. Your summer love affair with our bright star came to an end as all things must. I just sold an article about Florin Stettheimer - the painter for $50. Fascinating work here! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

my thoughts drift to my perception of you and then to this passion-filled sonnet and try to wrap my brain around its story, wondering how the two meet...good luck poet

I sure do hope you realize this is personification, Frederic, and nothing about an actual affair!

This is truly awesome Andrea, I'm impressed with the Iambic Pentameter! That can be tricky at times and to pull it off with such a fantastic rhyme scheme is very tremendous! I really enjoyed this delightful poem, you have empowered me to try something like this...though I have Iambic Pentameter in some of my poems, it is hard for me to do sometimes! What a remarkable piece, Great work!!
