7th Grade Skate

roller skating on Saturday night
seventh graders feel it is all right
skating hard under a disco ball
wearing those skates made us feel tall

at age thirteen, not old enough to drive
skating rink hijinks kept our hopes alive
we skated with a partner under that disco ball
careful to show off our moves; dreading a fall
