Birthday to me
Another year older you see
50 years ago today is when this world came my way
I think I would have rather stayed
in the Realm beyond where I was made
As my cousin told me this very thing
that as a babe in my crib I would sing and sing
Memories still fresh of things Above
where there is only Peace and Love
Memories lost in the eyes of a child
as we're thrown into this life chaotic and wild
And it hit me with something so unexpected
and I quite alone young and unprotected
It stabbed my soul and changed me inside
then I spent many years just trying to survive
But along with age has come a little Grace
and so it seems new strength for my Faith
So sorrow or regrets aside I know who I am deep down inside
Another year older and closer to death
yet another year stronger and closer to rest
So I will not dread this birthday to be..
for I am another year closer to Thee
