Unfortunate subject of the day! So this is what was on my mind.

Time will be up in no time and anger will have its comeuppance. I don’t give a pence whether or not they caught the guy, because they had him at one time, and they lost this time with other people’s kin. GBI we need them - do we? Dig it? Find another bone to pick? Chasing tails. Giving guns to a teen who leans into the hall and causes havoc and heroes to emerge.

You hit the nail on the head. I read in the news yesterday about some 14 year old who went to school and fired on the students. Terrible...

This was it! Senseless! Father is charged too. They had a lead on his son a year ago. The father didn’t lock up the guns and the kid lived in a troubled home. My tears are for the victims and their families.

Shocking that this keeps on happening.. I can see you have been honest doing this contest and I applaud you for that.. Your poem does pick up on a very serious subject and your words did it justice.. Best of luck..

What a write you have here. Years ago schools were safe for all. What Happened??? Guess there is plenty of blame to go around. What has changed over time since we were in school??? Today, kids have their own phone, violent computer games, social media, few if any rules from parents, many have been put on drugs. The list goes on/on. Maybe we should go back in time to how we as kids were raised. No phones, playing outside, respect for all. Prayer is needed for all. Have a blessed/fun day writing away........

Hello Kim, the school year begins and already there is a school shooting! Why? Why are parents keeping guns in the house? What is the reason for that? Why are the guns not under lock and key? I do not understand. Thank you. Hugs. /Darlene/

What happened yesterday is horrible. I feel for all those impacted in any form. I can't imagine what those students went through. I don't know exactly what you are writing about, but it is good to know that they had a plan in place, had been given training, and maybe they even need a little more training in dealing with some situations that come up in the schools. I found some information on the internet then I saw some news about all of that, but they can't go holding someone when they can't prove that they are planning on killing someone/people. The motive is what is important and what can be done to keep situations like that from happening to start with. Like I am sure those doors are locked for a reason, and someone let him in, and he killed them when they let him in. So, he should have been sent to where he was supposed to go in then it would have been a different outcome. Sara

The shooter was approached by the GBI more than a year ago. Where is the followup? There seems to be nothing they can do up front. I don’t have the answers. Just a horrible situation. I want the kids safe!

That’s why the answer is not in the guns (though part of the answer). How do we move our youth in the right direction?
