20 Claps of Thunder

20 Claps of Thunder

20 claps of thunder
19 kids are shouting
18 streets are flooding
17 lanes rerouting

16 lights are flashing
15 horns that blow
14 sirens wailing
13 weather men didn't know

12 umbrellas going up
11 old ladies fall down
10 times zero yards mowed
   9 fender benders in town

   8 tornado watches
   7 cars skidding by
   6 people wearing raincoats
   5 birds in the sky

   4 baseball games cancelled
   3 little wet dogs barking
2 trees blowing in the wind
   1 afternoon sky darkening

A good poem again Rochelle. Keep going with this. Many parents & children out there will appreciate what you are doing. Try and mix in a little bit , ' of the silly ' with your work as young children just adore that kind of thing. Kind regards----John

Rochelle, a fellow PS poet and friend from Australia, John Williams, has had his own website, kidspoetry.com.au for 30 years. You might be interested to know about putting up your own site one day, when you have enough numbers. I'm a relatively newbie too, but I know a talent when I see one. Besides, maybe you'll find your own niche, where my own talent does not lie, but am really appreciative of. Hugs! Kim :)

Thank you so very much for the compliment and the information. I am new to this also and have never considered actually creating my own site. Who knows where I might find my "my place". I will definitely look into this idea and I will be forever grateful to you for the suggestion. ...walkin' on sunshine...Rochelle

This is good! Aside from the fact that any adult can really appreciate real poetry, this can be taught to children for counting and vocabulary lessons as well. A 7. Welcome to Poetry Soup, Rochelle! Hugs and smiles! Kim :)

Thanks Kim. I definitely appreciate the 7/the vote of confidence. I look forward to reading, writing and learning form this talented group of writers and I'm excited to know that this appeals to you as a tool for children. ...walkin' on sunshine...Rochelle

Thinking outside of the box is over rated, Thinking on the streets is Gold Plated. This is what poetry is all about. This is a 7
