2026
Life has changed a lot this past couple of years
Like ones prior, they began with ambitious ideas.
My perspective has shifted on so many things.
Each day the echo of reality rings.
An outstanding truth, a deep training of mine
Is considered a cliché, take each day at a time.
Silent battles fought daily, inner improvements,
Even the unseen steps are positive movements.
So instead of aspiring to unreachable heights
Where the inner critic adds weight to our fights,
Perhaps this next year a more beneficial goal
Is to discover oneself and to heal one's soul.
If at times our minds haze, life feels like a blur
Or senses feel dulled, we feel we're not there...
As alone as you may feel, remember its not true.
There are more than you realise who value you.
If times feel dark, there's more room for light.
The toughest trials you face will give you insight.
To your surprise, you'll have more strength than you know.
You may not see it in yourself but others see it glow.
So thinking of some personal aims for the year ahead...
Appreciate the achievement of reaching smaller goals instead.
Apply to self the same assurance I would to one distressed.
View the inner critic as a bully so as not to get depressed.
However often there are setbacks, doubts or tears,
Never give up trying to conquer any fears.
Remembering our value's not dependant on others opinions is protection.
For one of our purest motivations is what we see in our reflection.
Finally, learn not to ruminate on what one cannot fix.
I aim for growth and self discovery in 2026.
