12,000 Miles
12,000 MILES
We’ve come a long way since the day we met
By a twist of fate on the internet.
Twelve thousand miles was the distance between
You in New Zealand and me in East Sheen.
A friend of a friend on my Facebook page,
You spotted my joke and thought you’d engage
In a little exchange of repartee.
And soon it was e-mails, just you and me.
Fifty-five yards away when I first saw
Your sweet face appear at Terminal Four.
And twenty-five from your radiant smile,
As I turned to watch you walk down the aisle.
Now nothing’s between us since that great day.
Twelve thousand miles is a very long way
