Forsaken Home
An empty house would spend its days alone, As the sun endeavors to brighten it with its joyful light, Yet nothing seemed to allay the empty house's sad tone, For its owners are the only ones who could make it bright, Its owners are the only ones who made the empty house feel alright, The birds gathered on its roof and sang all the melodies they had known, Yet the empty house still felt on its own, Oh, if only they sensed the hurt it feels like to be a forsaken home. " My rooms are screaming with loud silence, And their beds are drowning in incomplete dreams, The dimness created by the long closed drapes is all that I can sense, And the mirrors with no one in front of them no longer gleam, Without my dear owners, nothing in me is what it seems, The fireplace is so cold although it's made of burnt wood they have sawn, And I feel so lone without the kids playing beside my fence, Oh, if only they sensed the hurt it feels like to be a forsaken home. I long to listen to the children sharing secrets in their long night talks, And smell the various scents of food the mother would cook, I long to watch the father contemplate life while having his long night walks, And witness the family's every cry, every smile, and every look, I long to revive every sensation of happiness that the owners took, For what I have learned from them is all that I have ever known, What's a house with out its folks? Oh, if only they sensed the hurt it feels like to be a forsaken home. The clock ticks and it's noon, The parents are back from work, and the hurt gradually leaves alone, All I have longed to hear and see is back, and so are the kids from school, Oh, they will never sense the hurt it feels like to be a forsaken home."
