Bourbon
Some taste molasses, some will say oak Others think pepper, or even some smoke I'm brave enough to tell you, it doesn't matter to me All that I care is, you're from the land of the free Usually though I don't think of all that, I just pour two fingers Then sit down to relax, and see where my mind lingers Everything that I ask you, you tell me the truth Sometimes I forget you, the empty bottle is my proof Once in a while you're just too much and I say, never again Yet I never seem to mean it, always reconciling with my old fashioned friend We then stay up late, to catch up on lost time Until you neatly put me to sleep, unlike the beer or the wine The next morning at work, a headache is born As I recall telling my wife “Don't worry, it's just a drink made of corn” Then I come home and she'll ask, “Did you miss me?” And I always say “Of course I did Honey, now pour me a whiskey” January 14, 2016
