Christmas Epic
Shadows laid along the path casting gloomy scarey shapes tempting the unwary traveler showing glimpses of the past Towering roofs d waft the lanes lone people scurry on their ways icicles snapping off and dropping lethal darts one has to avoid Ahead a larger shadow stood waiting watching Jessica as she hurried stepping out as she drew nigh stopping her dead in her tracks Come with me I will show your past it is time to face what you have done grabbing her hand he took her back showed her the selfishness of her ways The greed by which she led her life always looking for a chance to acquire never a thought for others and their strife just always a self seeking way After showing her the ghost faded away leaving her huddled in fright and fear slowly she continued on her way home shutting the door she now felt safe Lighting the fire she puts on the kettle settling now with a hot cup of tea she seeing the smoke turning into a shape it says to her come and view the present Shaking she follows and sees the sights of her vain fruitless life squandered away no real friends just people frightened that she would seize what little they still had Never showing any pity ruthless in her approach she would take their last few pennies not caring that they and their children starve totally caught up in herself and her wants The shape warns her of the fate that waits then fades away back into the fireplace Jessica goes up the stairs and gets in bed soon she is far away in the realm of dreams A solemn ghost strides in "come with me" he shows her the future a very grim sight she has fallen down the stairs and lays helpless and alone knowing no one will come Isolated from others by her greedy ways she is now abandoned and very alone knowing that if she can not reach the door she will perish where she is freedom feet away You have 24 hours to make amends to others if not this will be your sorry fate The solemn ghost departed leaving gloom Jessica shivered wondering if she was dreaming She thought long and hard about the ghosts she could see the errors of her ways but did she care enough to make changes? thinking to herself I have enough to see me through She went out and brought food and presents placing some money into each package she hired the town hall and threw a party people were slow to come not trusting her They were sure that somehow she was out for gain they eat the food and drank some drinks a tension filling the air as they waited the presents got handed out this must be a trick Reluctantly they opened them and were amazed warm clothes for grown ups toy for the children and enough money to last each family a year still unable to take it in they looked at Jessica She smiled at them saying take and enjoy I have seen the errors of my past from now on I will do all I can to help and so the blessing of Christmas came to Jessica written 11/21/2013 contest Christmas Epic
