Center of Attention
An eccentric drama queen or two, Oh yes indeed, I’ve known a few. Ex-daughter-in-law comes to mind The sweetest girl you’d ever find, But should an ill wind chance to blow She changed to someone you don’t know. She threw a fork across the table, I asked as soon as I was able, “Why did she aim for you, my son? What terrible deed is it you’ve done?” With voice as tired as shredded silk, “I told our son to drink his milk.” She grabbed the baby, went outside And intermittently screamed and cried. Fearing the neighbors all would hear, I soothed, “It’s okay, come in dear.” Thespian to her final breath, She stayed a drama queen to death. She left orders to all those she loved. For three days she must not be moved, Or she’d come back and cause them pain. She wanted time to rise again. Written: 11/6/11 Won a 2nd in the contest Every word in this is true. I could write volumns.
