Their Sacrifice Made
As boys we left, as men we returned. Our thoughts for home, for loved ones we yearned. For freedom we fought, with bullet and blade. We would end this conflict that was the promise we made. Fathers, Brothers, Uncles and Sons We fought our enemies, we resisted their guns. Thoughts of our loved ones spurring us on. We would ensure the Great War was finally won. The night held the fear, the silence unearthly. A gunshot rings out, a life taken too early. Brothers in arms, together we stood. We wanted it over, we would do all that we could. For many long years war had been waged Atrocities committed, that left us enraged. The horrors we saw, we would bury inside. When our loved ones enquired, our pain we would hide. We think of our friends, the ones who have fallen. Those poor lads that fell, their lives that were stolen. For freedom they fought, for liberty they died. Remember the soldiers, remember with pride. A poppy is worn to remember the brave. The gallant and worthy that went to their graves. A debt we do owe how can we repay? Lets bring peace to the world, so they can live a new day. Armistice day 11/11
