Social comment poem for critique

This god//
we created of ourselves/
the world at our fingertips/
all seeing, all knowing/
casual observers of despair//
our fellow man, our neighbour/
we make friends everywhere/
life is filtered by the few/
who know our every need//
we no longer trust a word/
unless it is our own/
or from a smiley face/
that feeds our vanity//
truth wears a Janus mask/
too much then overload/
no one suffers or is dying/
when our screen has turned off.//
