DACHAU

The train rails are gone,

The processing center an exhibition

The barracks bleached and scrubbed

The hanging loops in the shower rooms removed

Torture racks and whipping tables

Clean and displayed

The Execution Wall and Blood Ditch grown over

Trimmed and landscaped

“Shower” rooms with gas jets are sealed

The three-person ovens impervious to the scorn

Their hideous smoke and stench

Long since dissipated by ambivalent winds

Ash dumps and mass graves covered

One monument for thousands marked

..Hell has been sanitized for public viewing...

I thank you for this stark depiction of the hell that men created. For my taste, a personal approach could have more power as in, The rails that brought them here are gone an exhibition stands where they were processed their barracks bleached and scrubbed...

to my taste this poem isn't bad at all it is descriptive the keeper of memory but if it would be more rhyme than free verse it'd might appeal more it made me remember of the NOVEL I really liked THE GREEN KING BY PAUL LOUP SULITZER if you hadn;t read it yet you should otherwise it's just taking about we need to do
