Think

All things that are said
In the heat of the moment.
Will be regretted
In the cold light of day.
So think!before you speak
For we can never take back
All those hurtful things
We never meant to say.

That is a really great piece of practical advice. I wish I followed it more - lol. Someone once told me to every day remind yourself to "communicate skillfully", by which, I think he was meaning something like what you've just said.

Hi John! Love the poem~ you reminded me of a saying I heard 56 years ago,)))) ACTION NOT REACTiON…Also…but I thought of a saying when I was 10 years old~ …Love many. trust few..Always, paddle your own canoe. ))); Too many people put on smiley faces but are more than happy to tear us to pieces, let them! You, John, will always have true friends. Love, Pangie xx

Hi John....like the feathers of a pillow scattered in the wind from a top of a mountain that the wise sage asked the impulsive one to release and then put back. You note that anger (heat of the moment) might tell us to exercise a bit of constraint as we've probably been triggered. Reason is such an under appreciated thing, but you exude it! Smiles!!

We've all been there John saying things in the heat of the moment and regretting it afterwards. I try and live by Engage Brain Before Opening My mouth. It's saved me a few times. Tom

ROFLMAO, Tom,Mouths speak with no brain! And harm others, too As long as we live, people will do this! I keep trusting people who are liars. I would love people to be honest with me,, I seem to uncover Jekyll and Hydes in the main. I am not the only one. God knows all we do. So humanity paves its own way to heaven or hell.Hugs, Pangie .

That's true Anne, but sadly some people can never accept being wrong.

I agree with you brother John, we must think before we speak, and try not to hurt someone. I was hurt badly in my youth by someone who quite simply was jealous of me, for reasons I vowed to never speak of again, I went through a lot of emotional pain…. Sis Beryl

It was an adult who was cruel to me with her words, I was sixteen at the time and had just met Alan, the person concerned ruined my life for years with her nasty comments, being so young I didn’t know how to stand up to her… Sis Beryl
