Li Wenliang

Staring outwards my pale, stricken face;
          My face a pale moon floating on a sea.
    Before the cherries bud I will be gone;
Hereafter blossom drops...try remembering me.

My small and insignificant tribute to a hero. I most fervently pray that WHO honour his memory. Whomever or whatever your God is Li Wenliang...may he cherish and watch over you forever. Amen.

such poignancy in this one, john. you said you were interested in exploring haiku. I do believe this one could actually be reduced to that form!

As always, you make some very interesting and constructive points, Andrea -- much obliged! P.s that last line has given me a devil of a job getting it into print...just changed it again for the umpteenth time. :)

A beautiful tribute to a doctor who made the ultimate sacrifice knowing how deadly this disease was, in trying to warn others knowing he would be punished for his efforts. Outstanding metaphors in this gorgeous poem! So sad. xxoo

I am struggling to find words that can add anything further to your own magnificent tribute, Connie. Suffice to say here was a man who sought only to serve mankind...regardless of their nationality or creed. I will never forget that picture of his face shortly before his death as he lay in hospital -- he must not be forgotten!! My warmest regards as ever, Connie. :) john
