Why You Should Slay Dragons
Hello to whoever reads this letter,
If you've opened this letter, then I've succeeded in my self-imposed mission. My herald to you is worth risking arrest to promote societal freedom. I shall keep my plea brief so you may answer my call. You must slay the dragons ruling over us. I know what I'm asking is terrifying, but you already feel the effects of their unchallenged domination. Their hoarding of wealth, government control, and environmental pollution must be stopped. The bodies they exploit to build their private palaces in isolated neighborhoods cast a plague across our country. The average person can't support themselves when working multiple jobs. This is unsustainable. We must return to the time when we slayed dragons. You can't be dazzled by their private flights. Nor by them dripping themselves in stolen jewels.
With their hoarded wealth, they purchase their way into institutions meant to represent we the people. Their exploitation of water and land has gone on since our country's establishment. Don't be fooled by the dragons' attempts to downplay and erase the history of slavery and genocide. Their venomous smiles are full of teeth, eager to pierce you with lies. Lies that try to convince you that if they are just a bit wealthier, you too will prosper. That the money they hoard will slip between their claws and land in your palms, you simply have to do work under their nails and shove aside other humans to get yours. Dragons thrive in this individualistic culture. It's time we remember how to slay them.
Their yellow claws sink into politicians' spines. Politicians make for good finger puppets. Twiddling their fingers, their puppets dance to their money and connections. Greed rots the foundation of our country. But as long as we're willing, this poison can be rooted out. We can remove their politicians. We can challenge their power. We can rebuild our local community. These aren't grand changes, but necessary ones to halt the dragons' hoard and diminish it. We don't need a grandiose chop when a thousand cuts will work just as well against the dragons. I have faith in our drive to make a better tomorrow. Despite this country's failure, we can slay dragons and bring about a future for us, the people.
Each nick against dragons brings our goals closer,
Fellow Survivor
