Who Murdered the Butler?

"HELP! MR. WALTER'S DEAD!" A fury of footsteps rushed down into the cold wine cellar. A flustered manservant paced around the cellar's entrance.
Four people arrived on the scene. The wealthy owners of the manor, Mr. and Mrs. Williams. Their only daughter, Mary Williams. And a maid, Zoey, Mr. Walter's lover, who was cheated on.

Two more running footsteps clamored into the cellar. The personal maid and lover of Mary, Anne. And the last maid, Maddie, with whom Mr. Walter was cheating.

Mr. Walter's head has a large lump on the back. He's been stabbed several times and left to bleed out. He was likely knocked out when the side of his face hit the wooden floor. His blue suit jacket was discolored by his brownish-red blood.

The manservant, who felt faint, scrambled out of the wine cellar. Mary Williams is shocked. But in her heart, she felt relieved. Mr. Walter was blackmailing her for her secret relationship with Anne. Mr. and Mrs. Williams would have fired the maid if they had found out. Zoey pales and wobbles back and forth. Tears stream down her face at her lost love. Maddie is outright weeping. Her eyes were swollen before she came into the cellar. Anne is stoned-faced.

Mr. and Mrs. Williams are shaken and leave the cellar to notify the police.

"You...should go with your parents, miss," Zoey said.

Anne slid beside Mary and whispered, "This was for the best."

Mary's eyes widened. Maddie saw how the two were too close and thought it'd be best to pin down Anne as having something to do with Mr. Walter's death.

"What did you say to Miss Mary, Anne? Speak up," Maddie said.

Mary panicked, "She said nothing important. Just trying to calm me down. Come along, Anne."

"I think it's best that Anne help air out the cellar, miss," said Zoey.

Mary felt she'd put Anne in more trouble if she stayed and left the cellar.

Zoey and Maddie cornered Anne. Anne deflected and revealed that Mr. Walter was two-timing Zoey with Maddie. Zoey is surprised and turns to Mr. Walter's dead body. Maddie glared at Anne. In a panic, Maddie points a finger at Zoey, "Murderer!"

Zoey twisted back around and narrowed her eyes. Anne stared in disbelief. Zoey demanded how Anne knew about Mr. Walter's cheating. Maddie attempted to sneak out of the wine cellar as Zoey questioned Anne. Anne and Zoey noticed Maddie's attempted escape and stopped her. As Maddie struggled, Zoey felt something sharp in her pocket.

The police stomp onto the crime scene and demand to know what is going on. The women spoke over each other and confused the police. The newcomers, annoyed with the women, arrested the three maids and took them to the station.
