When did it Become Okay to Lie?

In the Bible it says “THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS”. For those who don't understand it, it says simply Don't Lie.
When I was Growing up my dad taught me the old adage “Honesty is the best policy”. I believed it then and I still believe it. When I got a little older I learned my dad was not always as truthful as he wanted everyone to believe. According to my Mom when they were first married he was very honest but he changed as he got older.
When I was in school I was called on to stop several disagreements. They knew I would tell the truth and what I said was believed. My words stopped the arguments. Wow what a big responsibility but I never let it go to my head.
In 1967 Henson Cargill came out with a big hit called “Skip a Rope”. It was written by Jack Moran and Glenn.D. Tubb
It goes like this: Skip a rope, skip a rope
Oh, listen to the children while the play
Ain't it kind of funny what the children say?
                                 Skip a rope

Daddy hates mommy, mommy hates dad
last night should have heard the fight they had
it gave little sister another bad dream
She woke us all up with a terrible scream

                                 Skip a rope,skip a rope
Oh, listen to the children while they play
Ain't it kind of funny what the children say?
                                 Skip a rope

Cheat on your taxes don't be a fool
What was that they said about the golden rule?
Never mind a rule just play to win
And hate your neighbor for the shade of his skin

Skip a rope, skip a rope
Oh, listen to your children while they play
Ain't it kind of funny what the children say?
                                 Skip a rope

Stab 'em in the back that's the name of the game
and mommy and daddy are who's to blame

Skip a rope, skip a rope
Oh, listen to your children while they play
It's really not very funny what the children say
                                 Skip a rope

written by Jack Moran and Glenn D. Tubb

I loved the song (still do). My dad hated it. He would turn the radio off every time they played it. it took me a while to realize why. That song pointed a finger at him and told him he was wrong. He could not stand to have anyone tell him he was wrong. As far as he was concerned he was always right and anyone disagreeing with him was wrong.
That is what's wrong with our society today. No one wants to admit they are wrong. Society makes liars out of all of us. Here is an example. I fill out an application for a job. I am as honest as possible on it. It may not stand
out, It may not show that I know everything I need to for the job, but it is honest. People are looking for honest, right? Someone else fills out an application and lies like crazy on it saying they can do everything needed even if they can't. It looks like a great application. Who gets hired? The one that lies because he has a more impressive application. Companies want honest people but they make you lie to get the job. It doesn't make sense. If you have ever filled out an application on the Internet you know that at the end of the application is a bunch of questions
asking how would you deal with certain situations. If you answer the way you feel, you fail, and no one will ever see you application. If you answer the way they want you to, you have to lie, but that is the only way to get the job.
Our politicians lie, they tell us what they think we want to hear. Then the go and do what ever is best for themselves. Actors and actress lie all the time. some of them think they are above the law. When they are brought to court it is always somebody else's fault. Sports people are forced to lie too. The are forced to bend the rules as much as possible to get a edge, because, anymore, winning is everything. How you play the game doesn't seem to matter anymore.
You can't believe most of the advertising we are subject to. Much of it is down right lies. Some of it has been so exaggerated it is impossible to believe. Anymore, you have to ask a friend their opinion before you try something new. We all lock ourselves up tight in our homes because we are afraid someone will take what we worked so hard to get. On the computer on almost every site you go on you have to signed on and give a password. A lot of sites have 2 or 3 layers or protection to keep the liars out.
All this security makes it very hard on the honest people. An old boss told me once “locks only keep honest people out”. If someone wants to get in bad enough they find a way.
Wouldn't it be nice to go back to simpler times, When no one locked their doors and most people were honest? There is only one way back, IT IS THE BIBLE!. We have to go back to God and back to observing the ten commandments and the Golden rule. God is the only one who can fix our broken society. He wants to fixed it. He is waiting for the chance. We have to allow God into every facet of our life. That is the only way to fix the damage we caused. GOD IS THE ONLY ANSWER.
God tells us not to break his laws or we will be punished. Man says don't get caught breaking our laws or you will be punished. There is no judge and jury with Gods law. You break one of Gods laws and you are automatically guilty. There is no plea bargaining or time off for good behavior. As soon as you break God law you are tried and sentenced. I like God system because I know God is a compassionate God and he is always fair.
