Walt Bob and Blue

The old man, Walt, always wanted a full-blooded coondog to hunt with. He finally saved enough money to purchase a beautiful bluetick hound and named him Blue. He built a great doghouse and pen with plenty of room for Blue to get his exercise.

That year his nine year old grandson, Bob, came to stay the summer. When Walt was busy Bob would sneak down and talk to Blue. One day Bob went into the pen with Blue and the two played for hours, unbeknown to Walt. That went on for quite some time.

The first night of hunting season and they were off, Walt, Bob, Blue and some of Walt's buddies. The dogs were running, barking and baying, you could hear them off in the distance, all but one, Blue, he was standing by Bob who was sitting on a stump by the lantern. Needless to say Walt was not in a good mood. All Walt's buddies were kidding him about his high dollar coonhound that had treed a kid.

Bob never told his granfather about him and Blue and Walt never could figure out why that dog would'nt hunt that night.
