Their Story: Flash Point

“So you know that I’m at Hudson University for law. I’m still going to become a cop. In a couple of months I’ll be done with school then the real training starts.” Meredith said, sounding happy, smiling up at him.

Jack looked at her with fear and shock on his face.

“Why can’t you become a lawyer? I mean why a cop? You can get shot at. I don’t want

you to get hurt Meredith. What if we start a family? I’m not going to raise our kids alone!” Jack said, trying not to yell at her, making her feel bad.

(Rewind to Meredith talking about her schooling and job)

"You know there are other jobs in law, right? You don't have to be a cop." Jack said. Meredith sat up and looked into his green eyes. They have fought so much about

it over the years. "That's true so maybe I can go into I.A that way I can still work with the cops. Without the guns." Jack looked at his sweet soon-to-be wife.

"I.A what is that? Sounds kind of sexy. Does it stand for "I Am hot?" Meredith rolled her eyes at him,

trying hard not to smile. "No, you goofy overly horny man. It's Internal Affairs. They are

lawyers for cops." Jack scratched his head confused, not sure what to think of it.

"I think I like my I.A better but oh well. You know with all that planning, you didn't say anything about us getting married." Meredith smirked at him and went for her bag on the floor. Within a couple minutes she found it. Handing it to him she said: "You were saying what now?" It took Jack a moment to read it while she curled back into his arms.

"June 13th?" Meredith looked up at him and put her hand on his face, feeling the stubble

on it. "It's the first time we said we love each other way back when." She sat up again and kissed him long and hard. The couple stopped kissing and then smiled at one another. "Mmm how could I have forgotten? Truth be told, I loved you before then. During our first kiss I fell in love with you." Jack and Meredith went on with their day and talking about their wedding.

A few weeks later, Meredith was at the Hudson Library trying to study. But she kept getting texts from Jack. Trying to be funny with each text message. "I was thinking for our honeymoon we don't have to pack anything. I mean other than our toothbrushes." She

rolled her eyes at him, thinking that he is crazy. "I need to study. I have read the same page ten times over. Leave me alone husband to be. Love you."

A young man came over to her table with a stack of books in his hands. "Hey, you mind if I sit here? Other tables have people buying pot." Meredith nodded to him, not looking at him. The two people sat there for five minutes reading their books. "So what are you studying? Anything good?" The guy looks over kind of shy with a smile. "I'm going into law and working for the cops. What about you?" He smiled again at her but showing more teeth this time.

"Why don't we start with our names? My name is Danny Papirs and I'm studying marketing. It's so I can go into the family business."

Meredith looked up from her phone, showing that she was listening to him. "Oh, my name is Meredith Rosemen. What kind of company does your family have? I mean what do they do?" She put away her phone and listened to him. She thought it was rude to be talking to Jack at the same time.

"Oh we invest in a lot of things. Mostly big companies that are trying to make the world better. It's all in the company you pick."

The two people sat there and talked about this and that for a while. Around four, Meredith got a text from Jack saying he was on his way to get her.

As Danny was putting his books into his bag, he looked at her, trying to hide his smile. "It was really nice to talk to you Meredith. To tell the truth, I picked your table because I thought you looked pretty. " She smiled at him,

trying to be nice. "Thanks for saying that. It was nice talking to you too Danny." When she stood up he saw the glitter of the ring on her left hand. "So I never had a chance huh?" He said, pointing at the ring.

"Is that your game Papirs you go to the library to hit on girls? Well sorry for you, but I'm taken. Good luck next time."

When Meredith stepped off the elevator, Jack was standing there with flowers in hand. "Hey my sexy man, very pretty flowers. Sunflowers and wild lillies. What did I do to get these?" Jack kissed her sweetly on the forehead. "Well you said that you will marry me

soon and the fact that I love you. Did you get any studying done?"

She kissed him back on the cheek. "No I didn't get much done, someone kept texting me sweet little nothings. Maybe I'll get some work done later."

The couple left the library not knowing they were being watched by Danny Papirs. A man who believes that he should have the

girl. In truth for many years he thought he was more worthy of her than Jack McKinney. Ever since he saw her at Brickfield High. She was the best he would never have.
