The Tragedy Called Nigeria

Reflecting lately on the dilemma of pulling Africa's Largest population out of the nebulous brink, having studied the strategies of African countries in forging a positive path for their various Nation, It is a travesty to regard Nigeria in her current state as a Nation, Any pundit observing Nigeria from the transition of the colonial era to her current tragic dilemma can state in words more than one syllable that The country called Nigeria is at the precipice and since Every thing rise and fall on Leadership, it meet therefore to ponder on the evil that has befallen Nigeria consistently. The evil of Leadership.

It is sad to admit that the colonial masters did a better Job with Leadership than all the vermin who held public offices after “independence” , since the fall of the slave master's regime there hasn't been a single enviable role model whose impact is worthy of note save one, undoubtedly, there were hoary headed men who arrogated to themselves the wrong insignia of Nationalist, some of whom were beneficiaries of the rottenness which they handed over as a country. The fact that they no monument is left of the part is evidenced that no indelible impact was achieved and for many of these, all of their role in history is not worth celebration

for the most part, the errors of these old men lies in their acceptance of the structure forced upon the regions by the colonial masters for convenience which they called Nigeria, a country imposed on the “geographical entities” as their trial rule

since most “Nigerian” people are divided along tribal and religion sentiments, needless be the drift into names of these vision-less forbears who by their omission and or commission foist upon us a tragedy rather than a Nation

Stating categorically without mincing word, All the Presidents or Military Dictators who held power since “independence” are monumental failures, none of these imposters stood illustrious on the path of history, except that they mastered the act of greed, looted and raped the country, leaving it worse than they met her. These men dead or living dead should hide their faces in shame as their record reeks of a tainted reputation alloyed by dregs. Sadly some of them are bold enough to shamelessly write letters as to cover the wickedness of their failures in setting the country on the right path.

Taking a cue from other African countries colonized and subjugated, many of their Leaders without pretense burnt down the bridges and began to build , the Leaders of many of these African countries were unwilling to “mix old whine with a new wine” The rage of being subjugated created a strong resistance for which they broke down all the structures of their colonial masters, they started with the Naming of their new identities, not that of their colonial masters. Rhodesia became Zimbabwe, Bechuanaland became Botwana, Nyasaland became Malawi, Gold coast became Ghana, Swaziland became eSwatini

They took a different identity that resonate with their cultures and traditions and ceased to align with former oppressors, Nigeria however stuck to her past and continued on a path of neocolonialism

Apart from changing the names of the colonial masters, other enviable Nationalist decided that they would not keep even the language of the colonial masters

Julius Kabaranga Nyerere of Tanzania, restored his country to the African culture set the nation on the path of unity through a nationalist spirit, negotiated the use of a single African Language as the means of breaking down the fabrics of the colonial structure, After Genocide of 1984, the gracious dictator of Rwanda Paul Kagame pulled out from the influence both of Germany and Belgium and set the country on a path of healing. To united their countries Swahili is spoken in Tanzania, Kinyarwanda is Rwanda, although other Languages are taught in schools, but they insist on the values of their people.

The hoary headed men of the geographical entity still known as Nigeria too soon forgot the vehemently resisted amalgamation of January 1 1914 in which Lord Lugard who was the governor of both the northern protectorate signed a document consolidating both the northern and the southern regions to create the colony and protectorate of Nigeria. A western slap and denigration of the cultures and values of the regions.

Nigeria has since the exit of the colonial masters existed as a mere contract site where looters converge to steal, where the cultural ethics is extinct and values are eroded, where criminal imposes themselves at the seat of Power , protected by the structure of Police Force imposed by the colonial masters who are unlearned and preferred in that state by the oppressors to push back every opposition from a handful sane citizens who wanted a better society.

Unlike Most African countries, Nigeria has been on a long merry-go-round with a cynosure of profligate band of men overtaken by fraud and moral turpitude, without direction without a focus on Leadership for the masses, the culture is eroded and the breed of Politicians are myopic hoary headed men irresponsible adolescent, irreligious clerics all who agree in one course to loot

Criminals usurped the Power of the masses, imposed themselves both at state level and at federal level with different titles as Presidents, Governors, Senators, Ministers, Chairmen with one aim To steal .

All that has been done and is being done is a massive looting and thievery of collective wealth of the nation Politicians who through all forms of trickery and sometimes by voodoo Lord themselves over masses ran the formation of the colonial masters called Nigeria aground

men cared not about their reputation, with no shame, transformed from being the pretentious representative of the people to broad day criminals, entering into agreement with nations without consulting the masses

for emphasis, the current thing called “Nigeria” is a forced marriage and should be considered as such, Nigeria is not a country. There was no time in history that the people sat down and accepted to be called Nigeria, the masses were not consulted, the hoary headed men who left the derelict called Nigeria only accepted the transfer of colonial subjugation. A unilateral cohesion by the barrels imposed by Lord Lugard and Floral Shaw, an insignia which only reflected the sad ridicule of the days of slavery, which could have been a covert derision of our subjugation in Africa

for too long, the trapped citizens of the unjust amalgamated entities have been made to accept another form of slavery in the unjust society called Nigeria. A lawless society where real criminals and thieves negotiates plea bargain after looting and a deprived desperate hungry community thieves is assigned to prison by their Police or burned to death by ignorant citizens
