The Professional Woman

The woman briskly walked down the street, heading to her appointment. She was very well groomed, with her hair in a stylish bun. She wore a dark navy suit made of silk. Her shoes glistened in the sun.

A red light incurred which stopped her in her tracks. A homeless man approached her asking for a handout. She rummaged through her purse and handed him a few dollars. He thanked her and followed her down the street.

"Excuse me, Miss," he stammered. "Do you know of a place where I can go for a warm bowl of soup?", he asked.

"I'm sorry, I'm in a terrible rush." She quickened her pace, but the homeless man continued to follow her.

A wave of panic engulfed her as she proceeded to hail a cab.
