The Old Tea Pot

It was almost five pm in the cottage on the hill.

Old Mrs. White got up from her rocking chair by the fire. She put down her knitting needles and put on her glasses.

Then Mrs. White headed for the kitchen where she put on water to boil in her favorite red kettle.

While waiting for the water to boil, out came the old brown tea pot which was cracked in places.

Finally the water had boiled so Mrs. White picked up the kettle to pour the water in the tea pot but stopped for she heard a voice say “Please get rid of me”.

Mrs. White looked around and saw no one. Mr. White her husband wasn’t due back until five pm sharp.

Again she picked up the kettle to pour water into the tea pot but stopped.

The tea pot jumped back and spoke. “Please, I beg you put me to rest. I am old and cracked and have served my time to you”.

Mrs. White put the kettle down and picked up the tea pot gently in her hands.

“You are quite right my dear tea pot it is time to retire you”.

So with tears in her eyes she placed the tea pot gently in the garbage can and sat back down in her rocking chair.

In town Mr. White had just finished work at the vintage book store. He was heading on his way home when a mysterious push made him decide to go into the antique shop. As soon as he entered the shop Mr. White caught sight of a red tea pot and for some reason he had to buy it.

Upon his arrival home Mrs. White told her husband the sad tale of what happened to her favorite tea pot. So how was your day?

“well” said Mr. White on my way home I stopped off at the antique shop and a red tea pot caught my eye for some reason and I had to buy it.

He then gave the tea pot to old Mrs. White. Old Mrs. white thanked her husband for the tea pot and immediately boiled water to make tea in her new tea pot.

And all was right again in the cottage on the hill.
