The Mystery Of The Poetic Serial Killer

The Cartel Manor was crowded by a bunch of media reporters and curious people. Another murder had taken place in the famous Cartel Manor of Pennsylvania. “It’s the fifth murder this week.” said Jack, the most reputed detective in Pennsylvania. Even he was puzzled about this mystery. He said to himself, “Probably must be a serial killer behind this.” But he was uncertain so as to why he would murder the wife of Juarez Cartel, the richest landlord in Pennsylvania. Earlier that week, four people became the victims of the ruthless serial killer; the first one was strangled to death, the second had been burned to death, the third was ripped apart and the fourth was hung on a street lamp. The wife of Juarez had died by drowning.

“None of these have any sort of connection between each other; neither there is some sort of clue or evidence present there,” told Jack to his companions, as he was examining the crime scene. In the Manor, he had noticed a girl standing there. No one knew who the girl was, or why she was standing there. “She seems to be mentally unstable, Jack. Whenever you ask her anything, she keeps on saying a poem again and again.” said one of his companions to Jack. “Do you know who she is?” asked Jack. “No, but I’ve seen her at every crime scene which took place this week,” said the companion. Jack approached the girl and asked her name. She replied,

“There once was a wolf, who craved for food,

It had evil intentions, and never thought good.

One day it noticed six fluffy goats,

Took one of them and grabbed it by the throat.

Then went for the second and scorched it in a blaze,

And on the third goat it had set its gaze.

It ripped the third into pieces apart,

And ate the liver and chewed the heart.

Then took the fourth and dangled it high,

It shouted for help but no one heard its cry.

And soaked the fifth into water so chilling,

The poor little goat had died a death so thrilling.

The wolf grabbed the sixth and threw it down a pit,

Then smiled the merciless wolf, who hesitated not even a bit.”

Jack got confused; he didn’t understand why the girl was telling everyone this poem. “Ok, so there were six goats in total, right?” asked Jack to his companions. “Yes, but why do you ask? You are supposed to be focusing on the case, right?” they replied. “Have you noticed something peculiar?” said Jack. “What is it, Jack?” questioned the companions. “Just think about it, the first victim died due to being strangled, right?” asked Jack. “Yes, but what does that have to do with the poem?” they replied. Jack answered, “Remember what the wolf had done to the first goat? It had strangled it to death! And then the second victim died by burning, similarly the second goat was scorched to death! Do you get it?” The companions were amazed and replied, “Exactly! It all makes sense now; all the murders till now were done according to the poem, but what about the sixth one?” Jack replied, “Hmm… Maybe it is going to happen in the future? We must be alert.” The companions nodded in agreement.

They decided to protect the little girl, as she was Jack’s only lead to get to the killer. While talking to the companions, one of them noticed and asked, “Where is the girl?” Jack turned and saw a black car going away in great speed. He got in his car and started chasing him. The killer started firing from his gun at Jack’s car; however, he missed. After a long chase, Jack reaches a high peak of a hill. The killer gets out of the car and catches the girl and takes her near the ledge of the hill. He shouts to Jack, “One step closer and she is going down this hill. You better put your gun down.” Jack slowly gets down on his knees. He signals the girl secretly and the girl bites the killer’s hand with her full strength. He screams in pain and drops his gun. Then Jack raised his gun and said, “Freeze!” The girl runs towards Jack and hugs him. The killer was arrested and the girl was secured. Jack asked the killer, “Why did you kill Juarez Cartel’s wife? Why did you kill those six innocent people?” The killer replied, “Because they had a lot of wealth which I wanted. That’s why I killed them.” Jack said to him, “Now your greed shall be fulfilled in the court.” Then Jack went to the girl said, “Thank you dear; you helped us get to the killer.” The girl replied, “Thank you Detective; you saved my life.” After that, Jack sat in the car and drove away.
