The Live Christmas Tree (A Flash Family Story)
There is an old Christmas tree being decorated in the middle of a forest. The forest is located in the Arctic circle and partially hidden by mesmerizing high, green mountains under the Midnight Sun. Whole year round the said Christmas tree is being adorned with food, nuts, feathers and furs, shiny small stones and many other small things. These decorations are being brought by cheerful, playful small animals hailing in the forest.
... ... ...
One day in early Summer time, a group of hikers reached the place where the tree stands and were astonished after seeing the fascinating tree. As pilgrims in the site, they never expected that a living Christmas tree can still survive without being watered for a long time. The group of hikers is a family of thirteen composed of a mother, a father, five children (aged 14, 12, 10, 9 and 7), four adult male cousins and a newly-wed young couple. They installed their tents very close to the enchanting tree and stayed there for two weeks. The place is never dark during night time and they found the site safe, serene and soothing.
In each passing day for twelve consecutive days, one family member disappears at dawn after touching the living Christmas tree anytime of the day. On the first day when one family member disappeared, all other members scattered to search for the missing person and decided that nobody will leave the place without having everybody in the family. But even when they spread out in twos, one by one everybody vanished in the forest after twelve days. All family members never had a chance of communicating again even with their cellphones in hand. Only until New Year's Day when they saw and hugged each other again... in Heaven!
