The Letter

Dear Mr.Rosemen,

I have been out of your arms for only a week, but it feels like a lifetime.

So much has happened from the time I left for the Capital to right now.

As you can imagine, my father was outraged that I took off in the first place.

I told him while I was in the city for Theodora that I ran into Ceillia and she asked for my help.

I had to help her, I told him because there is still a missing warrant for her.

I think Ceillia might head home to her mother so the warrant will be cleared.

I know lying to my father wasn’t very ladylike or anything but I had to.

Mr.Myer is trying to get the wedding moved up a lot sooner. I keep telling him it’s not going to happen.

He thinks if we get married, he can try to do God knows what to me, he had better think twice about it.

My back is just finally starting to heal correctly after the last time he hurt me.

He has been trailing my every move since I got back.

Even caught him waiting for me when I got out of the outhouse just yesterday. He was leaning against the out house tapping his heel to the house keeping time to how long I was in there.

I threatened to take a switch to him if he didn’t leave me to my bathroom needs.

Then Mr.Myer tried to twist my arm and pulled me into the house. I pulled away.

You might be wondering how I even found the time to write this letter to you. Well, Mr.Myer passed out from drinking too much. He went into town last night and started drinking.

It seems as soon as I left he has been trying to go through my room seeing if he can find anything he could use to get his way.

I have hidden my personal things where he won’t find them. And before you ask, I am not going to tell you where either Mr. Rosemen.

The files I got from the hall of records are with my cousin Ayden.

I left them with him for safe measure plus Miss.Halden wanted to look into them more. See if he is more than just what is written down or not.

She says she has friends in West Virginia who can do some searching for me. I am sure that the files are safe over there.

As soon as I think it’s safe I’ll go and get them and hide them somewhere.

You should see our spot by the river. It's so peaceful here. The smell of the wild flowers in the field, the cannon lilies and other flowers.

I think about our time in the capital it was short lived as our other times together. Soon we will get to spend more time together.

I am still trying to figure out how to tell my father and what to pack for when I leave.

I Just keep thinking about standing on those church steps looking back and forth between the church doors and the street wearing my mother’s wedding gown, that day seems like a lifetime ago now.

On to other things before I go down that walkway, Theodora, Eric, Emma, and Stefan are all gone.

Stefan just left the other day. His older brother Alexender came from his leave from the south side of war.

He got into a fight with Mr.Myer about taking Stefan home with him.

Saying that Stefan shouldn’t be working for someone like Mr.Myer.

It seems that Stefan was the sixth person to work for him. Not sure what happened to the other five. That is another thing Nick is looking into.

When I got back from the capital I found out that Theodora,Eric and Emma were gone.

They took off that night it seems. What my father told me was that Theodora got a letter from her husband Ian.

It seems that he found a nice home for them in the free states. It took him a long time buy the land and build their home.

Theodora left him a note on his desk saying she had to go.

It was time for them to rejoin as family. She hopes that we have long happy lives. Plus we will be in her prayers every night.

I just hope that is all she has told him. I am thinking about trying to find their address to send her a letter.

You should tell your horse Thunder that Cinnamon is getting more pregnant with their child by the day.

Plus she is getting more feisty as well.

I had to pull her to the spot today because she didn’t want to leave the barn. Guess she wants to stay by the house where the food is.

Then she almost stepped on my foot making a small moon on it. It’s not broken or anything so don't worry.

I should get back to the house soon. I told my father I was just taking Cinnamon on a walk and that was over two hours ago.

I just want the lying and sneaking around to stop. I hate lying to my father Mr.Rosemen but I know soon I won’t have to.

Hopefully in time we will be in each other’s arms once again in our meeting spot with the wildflowers.

Forever your Southern Fire,

Mrs. Freya Rosemen

Ps. In case you are rereading the letter I love you my Union Soldier.

The lady of the house folded the letter into thirds and addressed it to Johnothan Rosemen, then She looked around trying to find a place to stash the letter where he would find it.

Miss. James found his tent stored by the trees. She opened it up some and tucked the letter in between the poles for the tent.

She grabbed Cinnamon and started towards the house with her.

As soon as she was past the last set of trees in the woods someone stepped out from behind one of the trees. They walked over to the tent and took the letter.

They read the letter thrice over then crumbled it into their fist with rage.
