The Lady and the Forest

The lady entered the forest stealthily, looking around with her eyes widened. She stepped on a branch and heard an owl cry. Then she heard something run and crackling noises from the leaves. It must've been a squirrel she thought. She crept along the path in front of her and marveled at the greenery before her. The sun sparkled on the bright green leaves. I hope I don't get lost, she thought. She kept walking ahead in spite of her instinctive intrusive thoughts egging her to turn back.

She continued onward and heard leaves crunch and twigs crackle as she walked. A bird cried in the distance. She saw some daisies by a tree as she walked. The bird cried again, but she couldn't make out whether the bird was an eagle or some other species. As she walked she saw a deer nibbling on some grass and stepped on another twig, which alarmed the deer and quickly darted off.

All of a sudden the woman heard a gunshot go off and without thinking made a mad dash to exit the forest.
