The Empty Room

Mr Lerata has a room in his house that has no purpose. ''This room is empty,'' he tells his wife. ''Yes,'' she says ''An empty room is a problem,'' he says He decides to fill it with dust. He orders five bags of the finest street dust and pours it into the room until it is halfway full. '' Now it has a purpose,'' he tells his wife. ''Yes,'' she says. ''It is a room full of dust.'' They never used the room again. It remained a monument to a problem solved by the creation of a new, dust-based problem.
